Find answers to common questions about Elevator.

General

Elevator is a hiring platform that connects job seekers with employers through short video pitches and live recorded interviews. Instead of submitting a traditional resume into a pile, candidates record a short video pitch introducing themselves, and employers review real people — not paper. Elevator restores signal quality on both sides of the hiring process.

Elevator is free for candidates. Employer pricing and subscription plans will be announced soon.

Most job platforms rely on resumes and written applications, which are increasingly generated by AI and difficult to differentiate. Elevator requires live, in-app video recordings — no uploads, no AI avatars. Candidates are limited to 10 expressions of interest per day, which means employers receive intentional, prioritized interest rather than mass applications. The platform also includes private salary alignment, AI-powered matching, and live recorded interview rounds.

Candidates

After signing up, you'll be guided through an onboarding flow to add your job title, skills, experience, role type preferences, salary expectations, location, profile picture, and resume. You can update your profile at any time from your dashboard.

Your pitch is a short video (up to 90 seconds) where you introduce yourself and present your qualifications. You record it live within the app — you cannot upload a pre-recorded video or use an AI avatar. You get up to 5 takes per recording session. Once you submit a pitch, it is locked for 30 days before you can re-record.

When you find a job you're interested in, you can express interest to let the employer know. You're limited to 10 expressions of interest per 24-hour period. This limit is intentional — it encourages you to prioritize the roles that genuinely match your goals rather than mass-applying.

No. Your salary expectations are completely private. The platform uses them to generate a salary alignment indicator (such as "aligned" or "partially aligned") that employers can see, but your actual salary number is never revealed to anyone.

Stealth Mode hides your profile from anyone at your current employer. When enabled, your profile will not appear in searches or pipelines for users affiliated with that company. This is useful if you're currently employed and want to explore new opportunities discreetly.

Ghost Mode makes your profile visible only to employers you have expressed interest in. Employers cannot discover you through browsing or AI matching — they will only see your profile if you initiate contact by expressing interest in one of their roles.

Pitch Blur applies a full visual blur over your pitch video so employers cannot see your appearance. The blur stays active as long as you have the setting enabled. Pitch Blur applies to your pitch video only and does not affect Live Round recordings. You can toggle it on or off at any time from your privacy settings.

Live Rounds are recorded video interviews. When an employer invites you to a Live Round, you'll receive a notification. When you start the Live Round, interview questions are revealed one at a time — you cannot preview them in advance. You record your response live for each question. Live Round invitations expire after 72 hours if you don't respond.

After recording a pitch, there is a 30-day lock period during which you cannot re-record. After the lock period expires, you can record a new pitch. The same 30-day lock applies to resume uploads.

If you enable public sharing in your privacy settings, Elevator creates a public profile page for you at a unique URL. This page shows your first name and last initial, job title, skills, role type, and pitch video. It can be shared on LinkedIn, X, or anywhere else. Your full name, email, and salary expectations are never shown on your public profile.

The "Actively Looking" toggle in your privacy settings signals to employers that you are currently seeking new opportunities. It's a visibility signal — turning it off doesn't hide your profile, it just removes the active signal.

Employers

After signing up as an employer, you'll create an organization with your company name, website, size, and industry. You can then invite team members and assign them roles (admin, recruiter, hiring manager, or reviewer).

From your employer dashboard, click to create a new job listing. You'll enter the job title, description, required skills, salary range, role type, and Live Round interview questions. You can also import an existing job description using the AI-powered import tool, which will parse and fill in the fields for you — just review for accuracy before publishing.

Elevator uses role-based access control for employer teams. The available roles are: admin (full access), recruiter (manage pipeline and candidates), hiring manager (assigned to specific roles), and reviewer (view-only access to candidates in their assigned pipelines). Each role has specific permissions that control what actions a team member can take.

When a candidate expresses interest in one of your roles, they appear in your pipeline. You can view their profile, watch their pitch video, see their salary alignment indicator, and read their skills and experience. From there, you can progress them through pipeline stages, add collaborative notes, send Live Round invitations, exchange messages, or remove them from the pipeline.

Each candidate in your pipeline shows a salary alignment tag — green for aligned, amber for partially aligned, or gray for not disclosed. This is calculated by comparing the candidate's private salary expectations against your job posting's salary range. You never see the candidate's actual salary number, and they never see yours until it's published in the job posting.

When creating a job posting, you set up interview questions for the Live Round. When you progress a candidate to the Live Round stage, they receive an invitation to record their responses. Questions are hidden until the candidate begins recording. Once submitted, you can watch their responses from your dashboard. Live Rounds expire 72 hours after the invitation is sent.

No. Candidate pitch videos and Live Round responses are viewable within the platform only. You may not download, redistribute, or use candidate videos outside of Elevator except as reasonably necessary for your internal hiring process for the specific role the candidate applied to.

If a candidate has Pitch Blur enabled, their pitch video will appear fully blurred when you view it. You'll see a badge indicating "Pitch Blur enabled by candidate." This is a privacy feature controlled by the candidate. Live Round responses are never blurred.

You can report content (pitch videos, Live Round responses, messages, job postings, or profiles) using the report button available on each piece of content. Select a report category and add an optional description. Our moderation team reviews all reports.

Account & Security

Use the "Forgot password" link on the sign-in page. We'll send a password reset link to your email address. The link expires in 30 minutes.

If your account is suspended for a policy violation, you'll receive an email notification explaining the reason. When you try to access the platform, you'll see a suspension notice. Your content (job postings, pitch videos) will be hidden from other users during the suspension. Suspended accounts may be reactivated after review.

Banned accounts are permanently restricted from accessing the platform. You'll receive an email notification if your account is banned. Unlike suspension, bans are typically permanent and are reserved for severe or repeated violations.

Use the report button available on profiles, pitch videos, Live Round responses, messages, and job postings. Select the appropriate category (such as harassment, fake listing, spam, or discrimination) and add a description if needed. You can submit up to 5 reports per 24-hour period.

We use encryption in transit, secure authentication with hashed passwords, input validation on all submissions, rate limiting on all API endpoints, and role-based access controls. For full details, see the Data Security section of our Privacy Policy.
